The Bride
(as told by herself)
I was born and raised in Kingston, New York, a small city about halfway between NYC and Albany.
I love being a part of a big family, with three brothers and two sisters, and much of my life revolved around my family when I was growing up.
In high school, I started taking my faith more seriously, and after graduation, I spent the summer in Honduras, doing mission work on horseback. While training for that trip, I learned about Houghton College and applied when I returned to the States.
I started at HC in the fall of 2001 and met Tim my freshman year (but we’ll save those details for another story). My siblings and I had all been born at home with the assistance of midwives, and I had considered that career for myself, but HC did not offer a nursing program, and I didn’t want to transfer out of the school I loved and away from the great friends I’d met there. Partially inspired by my dear friend, Tim, I chose a major in Psychology.

I stayed in Houghton for two years after graduating in 2005, working as an admission counselor at my alma mater and coaching the cheerleading team.
Knowing of my interest in nursing, my aunt told me about an accelerated second-Bachelor's
program offered at Binghamton University. I moved to Binghamton in May 2007 and started the accelerated nursing program. It was an intense twelve months,
but I'm happy to say that I did, in fact, graduate in May of this year with a Bachelor's
in nursing.
I accepted a job at a hospital in Maryland and began working on a medical/surgical
unit in June. I'd like to return to school at some point for a Master's in
nursing, but let's see if I can survive my first six months on the job first!
